So in the second week I had the same group and got to know the students a little more and their work ethic. One student would hurry up and get the task done so he could read his book another would just be disruptive so he could get out of class. There were a group of girls in each class period that would hang around and cause a little trouble and try to get away with it. I learned really quickly that they would look at me to help them get out of the trouble they were in.
The third week I didn't meet in my group and I helped some students read. So I asked them to pick up a book that they could read easily and one that was a little more challenging. To my surprise I did not know that these students just came from Somali and this is their first year of English. So when they were reading kindergarten first grade level books it was very difficult.
